Biography

Sue Sewell grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin where she spent as much time outside as possible. Even as a young child, she was always exploring the local woodlands and creeks. Her strong love of nature can be seen in her current work in stained glass mosaics. Her work in stained glass spans 40 years. With traditional stained glass work feeling too confining, she embraced mosaics, allowing her to move pieces and the colors around while constructing her designs. She layers glass pieces to create new colors and textures. Recycled objects hold her art, such as recessed cabinet doors, glass panels, or light fixtures. Colored grout completes each piece. She hopes that her art instills a sense of calm and peace, with a bit of whimsy.
