Biography
For at least 25 years I saved a small box of stained glass pieces given to me by my parents, who rescued this colorful glass from a demolished antique window. My interest in working with glass remained latent as a “someday” project, and that time came in 1990. I enrolled in a couple of basic art glass courses, took a design course from UW-Outreach, and experimented on my own….a minor interest grew into a real addiction. To have some control over cutting and shaping glass into surprising combinations of color and form is the key to my fascination with this craft….but this aspect of control extends only to the point where light play takes over, adding new dimensions to the finished product. It’s an ongoing challenge to project just what the end result will be, and dealing with surprises is just part of the process. My glass work is on display in the permanent art collection of University Hospital and Clinics – Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic and the Trauma & Life Support Center. It is also available for purchase at Mystery to Me bookstore in Madison and Artzy in Door County.
