Biography
Engaging in the growth of true Self-Empowerment (both in Self and for others) is my greatest joy! To pass along self-empowering wisdom (through teaching and art) is my life’s work. To show people ways to release old, negative self-judgement, detrimental thoughts and self-sabotaging behaviors; to replace limited ways of thinking with an expanded view – this is the support I can give to those looking to become self-empowered and to live more authentically in-line with who they truly are.
As an intellectual, I derive the most enjoyment from Art that stimulates the senses while engaging the mind. My background as a Literature major has instilled in me a habit of analyzing everything to uncover deeper connotations. I strive to bring this level of enrichment to my art, thus all the elements in my paintings are imbued with a “secondary” meaning. It’s a delightful psychological puzzle!
My fascination with the mind and its workings has led me to explore various methods of engaging with the subconscious and altering the mind for healing/growth purposes. In addition to being joyful studies in color and expression, my paintings are also allegorical teaching tools designed to subliminally influence the viewer’s subconscious. This is achieved through the strategic use of unexpected imagery, sacred geometry, symbol, and color, all of which stimulate the subconscious mind to facilitate positive shifts within the viewer. I “play” with differing “realities” (bouncing between waking, dream-state and Shamanic/inter-dimensionality).
My affinity for tribal/ethnic art lends a primal quality to my style. In conjunction, early experiences in the Graphic Design field, along with recent forays into book illustrating, combine to impart to my paintings a unique, distinguishing illustrative characteristic.
Although I often address serious subject matters, my work is infused with a sense of levity and play; the best way to learn and grow!!
