Biography
My photography reflects my deep appreciation of the natural world. But it is also informed by my love of music. When I’m in the field making photographs, I’m looking for a kind of harmony in the way colors relate to each other, and the rhythm of repeating patterns in the scene in front of my camera.
I’ve been making photos since the 1970s and I am a long time member of the Madison Art Guild, as well as PhotoMidwest. I’ve displayed my work in former Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton’s offices, the Madison Civic Center, the Elvehjem (now the Chazen) Museum of Art, and the Steenbock Gallery of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. In 2007, I was Artist in Residence at the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan. More of my work can be seen at my website, www.kenhalfmann.com.
