Biography
While working in special education the last several years, I found myself admiring the linocut prints on display from our middle school artists. Although I’ve received some formal instruction in drawing, painting, and sculpting, the student work inspired me to learn something new: printmaking. I’ve absolutely loved my introduction to relief and intaglio printmaking this past year, and am so excited to continue my journey. Changing the surface of my work substrate, exploring the negative spaces compositionally, and even the frustration of inking and attempting to pull decent prints, have exhilarated me. The common thread throughout my work is one of connection; to our environment, to animals and to each other. I aspire to present an everyday thing or moment that, in my mind, is worthy of a second look.
