Biography
Diane Kravetz is a visual artist from Madison, Wisconsin. After retiring from the UW-Madison School of Social Work, she pursued a career in fine art photography. Photography changed her life, giving her a new way of seeing and a new way of being. Her practice consists of making photographs that are creative and engaging, including creating fantasies through collage photography. In addition, she has worked with local organizations, providing images of their events for use in their newspapers, bulletins, and websites.
Diane’s work has been selected for exhibition by The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin; PhotoPlace Gallery, Middlebury, Vermont; A. Smith Gallery, Johnson City, Texas; and Midwest Center for Photography, Wichita, Kansas.
Her work has been recognized (as a finalist, with honorable mention, and as a nominee) in numerous online competitions including A. Smith Gallery, Black & White Spider Awards, International Color Awards, Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers, Midwest Center for Photography, Photographer’s Forum, PhotoPlace Gallery, and the Pollux Awards.
Locally, Diane was awarded the Jurors’ Choice Award at the Madison Senior Center. Her work has been displayed at the Arboretum, Capitol Lakes, Oakwood Village, Oasis Cafe, the Overture Center, the Fluno Center, the Pyle Center, UW-Madison Continuing Education, and UW Hospital. Also, her work can be seen at Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) and an office of LSM Chiropractic.
