Biography
I am an abstract- expressionist, examining the interaction of lines, form and color. My most recent works consist of geometric colored objects moving, breaking and transforming about the canvas. Painting abstracts can be compared to designing and assembling a giant jigsaw puzzle. My paintings usually begin unplanned, sometimes with a general idea or color combination. I then add and subtract the different elements until they evolve into a more definite composition. Working with acrylics on canvas allows me to make quick changes without having to wait for paint to dry completely. Through the relationships of the objects I aim to reveal hope, encouragement, and perseverance during these turbulent and distressing times. Wassily Kandinsky and Jackson Pollock have had a major influence on me, as does the living painter Chuck Hipsher, with his use of broad strokes and splatters of vibrant colors.
