Biography

Jan is a contemporary representational painter. She initially started painting watercolors in the mid 1990s, balancing her desire to paint with family life and her job as a biostatistician. Her early paintings were mostly watercolor florals and still lifes. In 2013, she decided to take the leap into the world of oils, which is now her primary medium. Jan has spent her entire life in Wisconsin and is continually inspired by its landscapes and urbanscapes. Her goal is to give the viewer an authentic sense of the landscape, not by providing a photorealistic rendering but by conveying the mood of being present within the landscape.

Jan is currently a member of the Association of Wisconsin Artists, Wisconsin Visual Artists, American Women Artists, and the Madison Art Guild.
