Milkweed Transitions

Most of my paintings evolve from drawing several variations of a subject, then designing and stylizing the work into a complete composition. My objective is to convey the essence of a subject by simplifying its elements into a design composition that transforms the work into something unique.

I primarily work in acrylics because of their fast drying time which allows me to lay in color quickly and rework areas as needed. My color schemes evolve as the painting develops. I'm constantly experimenting with different color combinations that create rich tones of layered colors to make the surface dance, weaving colors in and out to transition from one plane to another.

I've worked hard developing this style which is intended to give the viewer a different perspective on the world around us. It's an intriguing challenge that I enjoy and look forward to see where it will take me. I hope you find my work interesting and that it inspires you to take a closer look at the world around us.
